What we do
At Your Own Pace is for everyone dealing with low energy levels and chronic fatigue. Possible causes can be found in the food we eat, the way we take care of our body, our thoughts, the people we surround ourselves with etc. For some of us there is a biomedical component that interferes with our health (a virus or bacterial infection, genetic factors). Together with the complex, hectic and fast paced society of today it is more challenging to stay aligned with what our body, heart and mind need. All these factors can push us to the limits of our energy. This shows in feelings of being overwhelmed, exhaustion and a physical imbalance of the immune system and nervous system. This can result in a short term dip or a diagnosis ME/cfs or chronic Lyme disease.
Whatever the cause, the result is a shortage of energy. Finding out what is needed to recover will be different yet similar for everybody (same same but different). Based on our own experience, we believe it calls for a holistic approach where a combination of physical, emotional and practical resources can all help in the process of restoring your energy levels. It is equally important to have a safe space where, together with others, you discover what you need right now. At Your Own Pace serves as a supportive environment, a source of ideas, motivation, inspiration, like-mindedness and strength.
At Your Own Pace strives to create an online community where people can stimulate each other to live their lives at their own pace.
When energy issues are prevalent from childhood there can be a sense of overwhelm with life. The world is perceived as ‘much' or ‘difficult' and there is a lot of insecurity about how to navigate through it. The world feels like something that can easily hurt you and...read more
We, Diana and Paulien, are the initiators of Your own Pace. The theme ‘energy’ and living life in tune with your own rhythm – your own pace – has always been very relevant for us, having both suffered from chronic fatigue from an early age. However, over time our energy level has grown due to a combination of conventional and alternative medicine, changing our diet, adjusting work hours, retraining the nervous system, letting go of negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs, being patient, surrounding ourselves with love and support, working with nature and building a sustainable way of life.
Diana completed her Master in Management of Learning. In her work she helps teenagers with learning difficulties. She is also active in the area of Permaculture and Regenerative living, for which she spends a lot of her time in Portugal.
“In the presence of others I feel the connection, unconditional love and support. There is joy. I realise I don’t need to do it alone.”
